Writing application that comes with Markdown support and a companion iOS client that offers you the possibility to effortlessly sync the texts between devices
Inspiration can come about while you are out and about, so having the proper tools to capture your ideas without wasting too much time organizing your notes is essential.
Bear is a note-taking app, that comes with clients both for the desktop and for your iOS devices, integrates Markdown formatting capabilities, and allows you to use hashtags to group your entries by subject.
Note-taking application featuring device syncing capabilities
By default, Bear will store your entries locally, and you get to export the text by using the TXT, Markdown, Text Bundle, or Bear note format. However, Bear features monthly or yearly plans that will also extend the exporting capabilities to PDF, HTML, RTF, DOCX, and JPG.
If you decide to sign up for a Bear Pro subscription via an in-app purchase, you will be able to sync your entries to all devices automatically. Keep in mind that Bear employs the iCloud servers for the syncing process, so your data remains private at all times.
Rely on the Markdown markup for the formatting and filter entries by tags
The Bear’s main window is organized with the help of multiple panels that you get to hide whenever you need to gain more writing space or make sure you are not distracted.
Nonetheless, their presence is welcome if you want to see all the entries that have a particular tag or to search for all the entries that use a particular keyword.
Once you switch to the editing area, you can deal with the formatting details by using Markdown markup. If you are not familiar with the syntax, the Bear editing panel helps you create headings, line separators, lists, signal quotes, insert code strings, files, or links, or change the text style.
Bear also integrates an Info panel, where you get to see a word, characters, and paragraph counters, the estimated reading time, the last editing device. The same panel allows you to pin the entry to the top, copy the text to the clipboard, or just copy the link to the note.
Writing an application that helps you put technical details in the background
Bear brings to the table a workspace where you can focus on the writing without worrying too much about editing or managing your entries.
Thanks to the Markdown support you can make sure the original formatting will be preserved in all cases, while the integrated hashtag system makes the entries incredibly easy to organize.
At the same time, Bear comes with an iOS companion app and uses iCloud to sync data between devices, which means that you will have access to the details even if you are on the go.
We at AppsForMyPC have tested and used Bear for Mac and it worked pretty smoothly 🙂 🙂
