A screen capturing and recording application that enables you to capture snapshots create tutorials in an easy manner with minimum effort
Windows do come with an integrated snipping tool that you can use to capture screen areas but, whether we are talking about Snipping Tool or the new Snip & Sketch, neither of them is as fully equipped as their third-party competitors. That is why most users might go to a source outside Windows to capture screenshots and record the screen activity. iScreenKit is one of the good options out there.
Snipping tool and screen recorder in one package
This particular application acts as both a snapshot tool and a screen recorder. It can be used for capturing screenshots and creating video tutorials with various annotations to the output.
It features three major modules: one for capturing screenshots, one for recording screen activity, and the last for capturing scrolling screenshots of webpages, long spreadsheets or documents. This latter feature is one of the features that make iScreenKit really stand out among its competitors.
Take snapshots and add them annotations
To take a screenshot, you can either press the “Capture” button or use the associated hotkey. iScreenKit enables you to manually select the area to capture, allowing you to overlay various shapes or color highlighting to mark important areas before saving the output. The screenshot can be either copied to the clipboard or opened in iScreenKit’s editor, which comes with many more tools to modify the picture.
The editor’s toolbox is displayed at the top, at your disposal. Aside from the aforementioned tools, you can find here blur and mosaic effects, a magnifier, and a steps stamp, which enables you to quickly mark the steps to take in a tutorial picture. Furthermore, the editor can resize the image to the dimensions of your choice, while optionally maintaining the aspect ratio.
Video recording and afterwards editing
As for video recording, iScreenKit can capture the system sounds, as well as the microphone and the webcam input. The size of the video frame can also be customized. There is an editor for video recordings as well, which enables you to trim the video and remove unwanted sections of it, save individual frames, export clips or create GIF animations.
A user-friendly snipping and recording tool
iScreenKit conveniently bundles a snipping tool and a screen recorder in a single application. It features an elegant and well-organized interface with simple and clear options, offering a pleasant user experience, overall. Moreover, it brings to the table a mini toolbar that hides in the lower side of the screen, waiting for your actions without interrupting your work.
What would make it more complete are a few options that its competitors usually have. For instance, iScreenKit does not feature options to capture windows, regions or the whole screen, and adding text or graphic watermarks to the resulting output.
We at AppsForMyPC have tested and used iScreenKit and it worked pretty smoothly 🙂 🙂
