For those who are looking to improve their Windows Explorer experience, dedicated applications allow for the addition of extensions or other improved functionality to the default options. Wlx2Explorer provides such capabilities, offering users the chance to extend the Windows Explorer’s features by toggling the Total Commander lister plugins.

By using this application, users will be able to prompt those plugins at any time, by clicking on the preferred items in the Windows Explorer directory tree and pressing a custom hotkey. Support for multiple aspects is offered for the hotkeys, one being able to set specific shortcuts for showing the lister, the search dialogue as well as the print dialogue.

The main working principle behind the app is loading all the plugins in the RAM, then running the local keyboard hook “WH_KEYBOARD_LL”. A match-making process is initiated each time users press the defined hotkeys and the app will then detect the selected file, displaying the corresponding plugins.

Users must note that new plugins can also be added, through the “Settings” dialogue, and if by default, the application was set to use several plugins for singular file types, it will display only the first one from the available list plugin.
