uGet is a lightweight and full-featured Download Manager for Linux and Windows.
The uGet Project started back in January 2003 as UrlGet and throughout the years has had a few name variations until settled on uGet.
uGet was originally a GTK+2 based application that worked on various GTK+2 based distributions but in 2011 was upgraded to GTK+3 in anticipation of the technology advancement in the Linux Desktop. uGet still works on distributions that use GTK+2 but users will need to also add the GTK+3 packages to their system.
Download files in many segments to increase download speeds. uGet supports up to 16 simultaneous connections PER download.

uGet offers the ability to download videos from YouTube using the YouTube API so no need for dependency management.
Monitor various file types and any time you add them to your clipboard, uGet will prompt you to ask if you’d like to download those files.
Batch Downloads allows the user to add an unlimited amount of files in a batch to the queue for automatic downloading.
Copy a group of links to your clipboard and uGet will detect all of the files that match the extensions listed in the Clipboard Settings.
URL SEQUENCE BATCH
Download a batch of files from the same server that has similar filename in a sequence like “file-01”, “file-02”, “file-03”, etc. using a wildcard structure.
HTML IMPORT BATCH
HTML File Importing: import a list of an unlimited amount of URLs to download from via a .html file.
TXT IMPORT BATCH
TXT File Importing: import a list of an unlimited amount of URLs to download from via a .txt file.
DOWNLOAD HISTORY EXPORT
Export All Downloads: exports all URLs in the Downloads History to a .txt file for use on your other computers.
Place downloads into a Queue to control the amount of files that can be downloaded simultaneously. After a download finishes, then uGet will automatically start downloading the next file in the queue.
ADVANCED DOWNLOAD CATEGORIES
Download Categories allows a lot of control over a variety of features including Default Folders, Amount of Connections Used, Login Credentials, Amount of Active Downloads, Proxy Support, Speed Control, and much more.
TRANSLATED INTO MULTIPLE LANGUAGES
Thanks to the great uGet Community contributions, uGet has been translated into over 30 Lanuages. If you’d like to contribute then you can do so here.
Pause and Resume downloads allows you to temporarily pause downloads without having to start the download from the beginning.
The ability to schedule what days of the week and the time of the day that uGet is allowed to or not allowed to download files.
AFTER COMPLETION ACTIONS
uGet allows you to tell the computer to perform actions after all downloads have completed. These actions include: Shutdown, Reboot, Sleep, Hibernate or run a custom script.
Multiple mirrors (aka sources) allows you to download a single file from many different servers and then merging them together after the download has completed.
uGet allows you to download from a variety of different protocols including HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, BitTorrent*, & Metalinks*. – * indicates the aria2 plugin is required.
COMMAND-LINE / TERMINAL
uGet offers the ability to use the command-line (via a terminal) to download files rather than exclusively using the graphic user interface.
Using the Quiet Mode flag allows downloads to be added to a specific category automatically and begin downloading automatically, skipping the dialog properties popup.
uGet has a robust set of Keyboard Shortcuts that allow you to use and navigate the application window without using your mouse.
The History of downloads for finished entries and recycled entries up to 9,999 files per list, or automatically delete the oldest entries once your custom limit has been met.
FTP LOGIN & ANONYMOUS FTP
supports downloading from anonymous FTP as well as login support via Username & Password for private/protected FTP servers.
If you provide a path to save a file but the folder doesn’t exist, uGet will create it for you automatically in order to save the file there.
Advanced Download Categories
Category Defaults for All Individual Download Features: all of these features can also be set via category properties as Category Defaults and can be separately configured per category.
